Vermiculite is a health concern. This is proven. And I see so many contractors treating it as if it is nothing to even consider that it is frustrating.
So what about vermiculite is the issue? You can sample vermiculite all day long and use traditional asbestos analysis and have it come back with no asbestos detectable. The real issue is that the Libby Amphibole asbestos is smaller than the traditional types of asbestos that most techs analyzing the samples will not see it or flag it.
These fibers can still be trapped in a HEPA filter so that is good. It can still be removed safely.
It is, however, not an inexpensive process to undertake. So if you hire a professional to clean up your vermiculite (especially in Northwest Montana), which you should, expect a bill larger than removing fiberglass or cellulose.
